Fourteen municipalities in New Jersey’s 40th Legislative District will receive almost $5.5 million in transportation grants from the Department of Transportation, according to an announcement made Tuesday by Senator Kristin Corrado and Assemblymen Christopher DePhillips and Al Barlas.

In a joint statement, the lawmakers said, “We are proud to advocate for our towns in Trenton and help bring these dollars back to the communities we represent. This well-deserved funding will improve transportation infrastructure, make commutes safer and benefit everyone who lives, works or travels through this district.”

The municipal aid grants are intended to support improvements such as roads, bridges, safety projects, and other quality-of-life initiatives. According to the process outlined by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), towns receive 75% of their grant amount when a contract is awarded, with the remaining 25% provided after project completion.
