Princeton secured its seventh NCAA men’s lacrosse championship with a 16-9 victory over Notre Dame on May 25 at Virginia’s Scott Stadium.
The top-seeded Tigers overcame an early deficit after Notre Dame scored the first three goals in the opening five minutes. Princeton responded with an 11-goal run, taking an 11-3 lead into halftime. Although Notre Dame closed the gap twice to within five goals, Princeton maintained control and had enough of a cushion by intermission to secure the win.
The championship coincided with the honoring of Princeton’s most recent title-winning team on its 25th anniversary, adding significance for both current players and alumni attending the event.
With this result, Princeton concluded its season as national champions, reaffirming its place among collegiate lacrosse’s most successful programs.
