Following unanimous support in the United States Senate, Congress is set to make tip income tax-exempt at the federal level. In response, Senator Vince Polistina (R-2) is urging the New Jersey Legislature to adopt similar measures.

“Eliminating taxes on tips is about fairness and keeping more money in the pockets of our hard-working service employees,” stated Sen. Polistina. He emphasized that if Washington is moving toward this change, New Jersey should also eliminate state taxes on tips. “My bill would help make New Jersey more affordable by putting even more money back in the pockets of our essential workers, especially in places like Atlantic City, where the service industry is the backbone of our community.”
