Bipartisan legislation led by Senator Joe Pennacchio, aiming to provide preserved farms with more options for hosting special occasions while maintaining their agricultural focus, has passed the New Jersey Senate.
The bill allows farms to use newly built permanent structures for events, provided that event revenues do not surpass 10% of the farm’s total annual revenue.
“Farmers should have the opportunity to generate additional income from their property, especially when it’s done in a way that does not jeopardize the primary use of the land for agriculture,” stated Sen. Pennacchio. “This bill strikes the right balance between supporting our farmers and protecting the integrity of preserved farmland.”
