Next week, overnight lane and ramp closures are planned on I-295, I-76, and Route 42 in Bellmawr, Camden County. These closures are part of the Direct Connection project aimed at improving traffic flow through the interchange of these highways.

On Monday and Tuesday nights, June 23 and 24, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., the I-295 southbound ramp to Route 42 southbound will be closed for demolition work on the temporary Browning Road Bridge. Motorists will be directed to Exit 26/I-76 westbound as part of a detour route that involves several exits and turns before rejoining I-295 southbound.

Further closures are scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday nights, affecting both northbound and southbound lanes. On Tuesday night starting at 9 p.m., one lane on I-295 northbound will close between Essex Avenue and after the Browning Road Bridge. At least two lanes will remain open.

Wednesday night will see another closure of the I-295 southbound ramp to Route 42 southbound from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. A detour via Exit 25A/Route 47 southbound is planned for this period.

On Thursday night, two lanes in both directions on I-76/Route 42 will close between Exit 1B and the Browning Road Bridge from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., while maintaining at least two open lanes.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation advises motorists to check their website for real-time travel information and updates on social media platforms like X (Twitter), Facebook, or Instagram. Portable message signs will alert drivers about changes in traffic patterns due to weather or other factors.
