The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced its Capital Program for State Fiscal Year 2025, continuing a trend of over $1 billion in contracts for the seventh consecutive year. This reflects the Murphy Administration’s focus on infrastructure investment. In SFY 2025, NJDOT awarded 111 construction contracts totaling $1.109 billion, marking the fourth highest amount in a single year.

NJDOT Commissioner Fran O’Connor said, “The New Jersey Department of Transportation has delivered another billion-dollar-plus capital program in SFY 2025, with a wide array of safety, operational improvement and state-of-good-repair projects that benefit all road users.” She credited Governor Murphy and the Federal Highway Administration for providing necessary resources.

Additionally, NJDOT made 159 consultant selections valued at $585 million, surpassing the previous record of $381 million from SFY 24. These selections aim to expedite project delivery.

Since Governor Murphy took office in 2018, there has been an improvement in state highway conditions from 65 percent to 82 percent being in good or fair condition. Parth Oza, NJDOT’s Assistant Commissioner of Capital Program Management said, “This is more than an investment in projects – it’s a promise we’re making to the next generation that New Jersey’s infrastructure will be smarter, stronger, and safer.”

Highlighted projects for SFY25 include:

– Route U.S. 1 & 9 (Pulaski Skyway) rehabilitation in Hudson County with a budget of $197.7 million.
– Route 76/676 bridge replacements in Camden County costing $73.2 million.
– Pavement resurfacing on Route 40 across multiple locations with an allocation of $31.2 million.
– A new ferry terminal at Liberty State Park priced at $22.3 million.
– ITS improvements for the 2026 World Cup across several counties costing $20.6 million.
– Bridge replacement over Maurice River in Cumberland County at $12.4 million.
