Congressman Donald Norcross has taken to social media to express his concerns regarding recent actions attributed to Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Norcross accuses these prominent figures of creating obstacles for Americans seeking Social Security benefits, which he views as a strategic maneuver to benefit the wealthy. On April 15th, 2025, Norcross claimed that the measures to “fire workers and close Social Security offices” were enacted by Donald Trump and Elon Musk to afford substantial tax reductions for themselves and other billionaires.

“By firing workers and closing Social Security offices, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are making it harder for Americans to receive their benefits. All so that they can afford to give themselves and their billionaire friends a giant tax cut.”

In a further statement on the same day, Norcross detailed the impact of these reported actions. He mentioned that “Trump and Musk have fired @SocialSecurity staff, reduced phone services, and required more in-person appointments at offices with reduced staff,” resulting in operational difficulties. These measures have led to “chaos, confusion, and crashes to the Social Security website.”

Norcross emphasized the gravity of the situation on April 15th, 2025, coinciding with Social Security Day of Action. He highlighted that over 150,000 recipients in South Jersey are at risk of losing benefits they have earned. He attributed the jeopardy of these benefits to the tax prioritization by Trump and Musk, asserting that the initiative serves the interests of affluent individuals.

“Today is Social Security Day of Action. Over 150k Social Security recipients in South Jersey rely on the benefits they paid into and earned. Now, their benefits are in jeopardy. All so that Trump and Musk can give tax cuts to billionaires.”

Donald Norcross is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing New Jersey’s 1st district. He replaced previous U.S Congress member Rob Andrews in 2014.
