The New Jersey Senate has approved a bill sponsored by Senator Jon Bramnick (R-21) aimed at reducing healthcare costs for residents. The legislation requires that discounts negotiated by insurers for prescription drugs be counted toward patients’ out-of-pocket maximums.
Senator Bramnick stated, “Too many New Jerseyans are paying more than they should for healthcare, even when they do everything right. This commonsense bill ensures that insurer-negotiated discounts count toward a patient’s out-of-pocket maximum, ultimately lowering costs and making healthcare more affordable for patients across our state.”
The bill, S-3818, is intended to help make prescription medications more affordable by ensuring that any savings from insurer negotiations directly benefit consumers.
