The New Jersey Senate has approved significant bipartisan legislation aimed at bolstering the state’s manufacturing sector. The bill, sponsored by Senator Michael Testa and Senator Linda Greenstein, proposes a $500 million tax credit program designed to support manufacturers in New Jersey. This initiative marks the largest investment in the state’s manufacturing history.

Senator Testa emphasized the importance of this sector to New Jersey’s economy, stating, “Manufacturing has long been the backbone of New Jersey’s economy, and this historic investment reaffirms our commitment to revitalize this vital sector.” He further described the ‘Next New Jersey Manufacturing Program’ as a means to drive innovation and attract new investments, with the goal of creating high-quality careers for residents.

Senator Greenstein highlighted the impact of this legislation on job creation and clean energy leadership. She stated, “This is a landmark piece of legislation that will drive major investments in New Jersey’s manufacturing sector.” The generous tax incentives are expected to strengthen the state’s position as a leader in clean energy manufacturing.

The bill, known as S-4407, aims to encourage substantial investment within New Jersey while generating new jobs and economic opportunities through its ‘Next New Jersey Manufacturing Program.’
