Senator Kristin M. Corrado’s legislation to designate May as Military Spouse Appreciation Month in New Jersey has passed the Senate Military & Veterans’ Affairs Committee. The resolution aims to honor military spouses for their dedication and support to servicemembers and their families.

“The husbands and wives of our brave servicemembers make tremendous sacrifices, often putting their own careers and aspirations on hold to support their families and our country,” said Senator Corrado. “Although they may not wear a uniform, military spouses play a vital role in maintaining stability at home while navigating the unique challenges of military life, including frequent relocations and long deployments.”

Corrado emphasized the importance of recognizing military spouses: “Military spouses are the rock on which our military community depends, and are silent heroes in providing our troops with comfort and support. This legislation is a small but meaningful way to show our appreciation for their strength and dedication.”

The resolution, SJR101, requests that the Governor issue an annual proclamation encouraging public officials and citizens to observe May as Military Spouse Appreciation Month through activities and programs honoring these individuals.
