The Camden County Miracle League held its spring baseball kickoff on Sunday morning, marking the opening day with a ceremonial first pitch thrown by Camden County Clerk Pam Lampitt. “The Miracle League does incredible work to ensure that all children here in Camden County have the opportunity to participate in sports,” Lampitt expressed, emphasizing the importance of the initiative. Lampitt noted, “Boundless Field was specifically designed to be fully accessible so disabled children would be able to play baseball and have a good time. We are so grateful for the work the Miracle League does, and we are excited for the 2025 season.”
Boundless Field, which was opened in 2013, hosts handicap-accessible baseball games and Special Olympics events. The field features 50-foot baselines and a distance of 125 feet from home plate to the center field fence. Each weekend, more than 100 children and adults with special needs, accompanied by community volunteers, gather at this nationally recognized venue.
In a Miracle League game, every player bats once per inning, none are called out, each player scores, and both teams emerge victorious. Players are paired with “buddies,” who assist during the game. These buddies can be siblings, friends, or volunteers who help players engage with the game.
The Camden County Miracle League is managed by the Commissioners’ Board’s Division of Programming for People with Disabilities.
