Mandelbaum Barrett PC announced on May 21 the formal launch of its Antitrust Practice, responding to growing importance of antitrust and competition law amid increased federal and state enforcement, expanding private litigation, and heightened regulatory scrutiny.
The firm said this new practice aims to provide clients with strategic guidance as antitrust considerations become more frequent in business decisions. The Antitrust Practice is co-chaired by Harrison McAvoy, who recently joined Mandelbaum Barrett and brings experience in high-stakes antitrust litigation across industries such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and Grant Petrosyan, a litigator focused on complex disputes involving antitrust matters. The team also includes lawyers with backgrounds in federal prosecution, intellectual property, commercial litigation, and criminal defense.
According to Mandelbaum Barrett PC, the group will offer real-time counseling on compliance issues, strategic transactions, risk management strategies, and represent companies as both plaintiffs and defendants in antitrust litigation. The firm reports that over the past year it has expanded key practice areas due to evolving client needs.
“We’re seeing antitrust issues come up in places clients didn’t expect even a few years ago, whether in routine business decisions, competitor interactions, or transactions that draw regulatory attention,” said William S. Barrett, CEO of Mandelbaum Barrett PC. “Our approach is grounded in both the legal framework and the commercial realities our clients are operating in. This is about giving clients clear, practical guidance when the stakes are high and the path forward isn’t always obvious.”
McAvoy said companies now face antitrust risks earlier than before: “Antitrust issues don’t just emerge in investigations or litigation anymore—they come up in pricing decisions, distribution strategies, data-driven business models, and M&A activity,” he said. “What clients need in those moments is advice that’s not theoretical but grounded in how these issues actually play out so they can move forward with confidence.”
Petrosyan said the team focuses on providing clear advice during high-pressure situations: “Our job is to focus on what really matters, cut through unnecessary complexity, and give clients straightforward advice that aligns with their business objectives.”
