The Township of Mahwah announced on May 22 that improvements to Karen Drive and Lynn Terrace are scheduled for late May, with roadway milling set for Thursday, May 28, and paving planned for Friday, May 29, weather permitting.

These upgrades will affect the entire length of both roads. During the milling process on May 28, both streets will be closed from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. No parking signs will be posted at least a day before work begins. Residents must remove vehicles from the street by 7:00 AM. While local traffic—including school buses, deliveries, garbage and recycling pickups, landscapers, and emergency vehicles—will have access to residential properties during this phase, delays are expected except in emergencies. Access to driveways will be maintained during milling.

On paving day—May 29—the roads will again be closed from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, no access to either the road or residential driveways will be provided while paving is underway. Residents who need their vehicles should move them out of driveways by the start time; buses and service vehicles also cannot enter during this period.

Asphalt tact will be applied up to two hours before paving starts as part of required preparation for asphalt adherence. The township advises residents not to walk or drive over tacked surfaces since it can stick to tires or shoes and cause damage or inconvenience; contractors are not responsible for any resulting property damage or pet injury.

This project is funded by both the Township of Mahwah and a Bergen County Community Development Block Grant. For questions or concerns about the schedule or access issues during construction days, residents can contact Township Engineer Michael J. Kelly at (201) 529-5757 extension 255 or mkelly@mahwahtwp.org. Updates on project timing are available at MahwahTwp.org.
