Route 202 southbound will experience a lane closure starting Friday morning as part of a Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) project. The construction affects the area approaching the New Hope-Lambertville Toll Bridge, located between Route 29 in New Jersey and Route 32 in Pennsylvania. Wide loads will not be allowed on this section during the construction period.
A single lane on Route 202 northbound was already closed on Tuesday, June 24, as part of the same project. Despite these closures, at least one lane in each direction and all ramps will remain open. Motorists are advised to slow down, prepare for lane shifts, and exercise caution when approaching the bridge.
The lane closures are expected to last until 2026. This is part of an initiative by DRJTBC to convert the former cash-collection toll plaza into an open road cashless electronic tolling facility, which is anticipated to be operational by summer 2026. Additionally, unrelated repairs on a portion of the bridge will continue through the end of that year.
For further details about the project, individuals can contact DRJTBC. The schedule may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to visit NJDOT’s traffic information website for updates and real-time travel information.
