On April 28, there will be a full closure of Jackson Road from Cooper to Hopewell roads in Waterford Township. This measure is due to the ongoing fire suppression efforts at Wade Salvage, located at 225 Jackson Road.

“Motorists should find alternate routes while crews continue to address the fire conditions on Jackson Road,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young, liaison to the Department of Public Safety. “We are monitoring the situation closely and will update the public when the road is reopened, and the regular flow of traffic is resumed.”

The fire began on April 27 when the Camden County Communications Center was contacted regarding a fire at the recycling facility at 225 Jackson Road. The blaze, fueled by favorable wildfire conditions, quickly escalated into a multi-alarm fire, threatening approximately 50 homes in the area. Due to the intensity of the fire and its spread by high winds, authorities facilitated voluntary evacuations around the fire’s perimeter.

The fire is currently contained within the facility. First responders are expected to remain onsite over the next 24 to 48 hours to ensure the 15-acre site is fully saturated. Additionally, air quality monitoring by Camden County Haz Mat indicates that a shelter-in-place order continues for residents on Anderson Road.
