The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced that the I-80 westbound Exit 25 ramp to Route 206 northbound in Mount Olive, Morris County will be closed and detoured on Friday night for drainage repairs.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, March 6, and will continue until 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 7. NJDOT stated that the closure is needed to replace drainage pipes and repair inlets.

A detour route has been established for motorists affected by the closure. Drivers traveling westbound on I-80 who wish to take Exit 25 to Route 206 northbound will be directed to remain on I-80 westbound, then take Exit 19 toward CR 517/Hackettstown/Allamuchy/Andover. At the end of the ramp, motorists should stay left to turn onto CR 517, then turn left again to access the ramp for I-80 East/Dover. From there, drivers can take Exit 25 to reach Route 206 North/Stanhope/Newton.

According to NJDOT, “This closure is necessary to replace drainage pipes and repair inlets.”

The work is part of a $12 million state-funded maintenance project aimed at improving drainage systems at multiple sites across Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.

Variable Message Signs will notify motorists about changes in traffic patterns related to this project. NJDOT also noted that “the precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.”

Motorists are encouraged by NJDOT to consult its traffic information website for up-to-date travel details: www.511nj.org.
