The southbound lanes of I-287 in Morris County are expected to reopen by Thursday morning’s rush hour, following emergency repairs. The left and center lanes remain closed between Exit 57/Skyline Drive in Oakland and mile post 50, after the Brook Valley Road Bridge over I-287 in Montville. The right lane is open.

The closures are due to repairs on roadway joints that expanded from recent extreme temperatures, causing concrete buckling. All lanes are anticipated to be open by Thursday morning, June 26.

Crews will continue evaluating a 10-mile stretch of I-287 southbound for compromised joints between Exit 57/Skyline Drive in Oakland and the Old Lane Bridge over I-287 in Montville. Proactive repairs are planned to prevent further damage.

Emergency repairs will persist during the day on Thursday and Friday, as well as at night through next week if necessary. During peak travel times, all lanes should remain open.

The lane closure schedule for sections of I-287 southbound includes:

– Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27:
– 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Up to two lanes closed; at least one lane open
– 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.: All lanes open
– 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.: Up to two lanes closed; at least one lane open

– Monday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 2:
– 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.: Up to two lanes closed; at least one lane open
