Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district since 2014, recently expressed his views on healthcare and political unity through a series of tweets. Norcross, who succeeded Rob Andrews in Congress and has a history of serving in the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate, shared his concerns regarding recent legislative actions and the significance of Independence Day.
On July 3, 2025, Congressman Norcross criticized House Republicans for passing what he described as “the largest cuts to healthcare and food assistance in American history.” He stated that these cuts were made “just to give billionaires a massive tax break,” and affirmed his opposition by saying “I voted NO because working families shouldn’t pay the price for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy.”
The following day, July 4, 2025, Norcross celebrated Independence Day by acknowledging the contributions of various groups to the American dream. He tweeted “This Fourth of July, we celebrate the American dream, shaped by working families, safeguarded by our servicemembers and veterans, and lifted by the quiet strength of everyday heroes. Happy Independence Day!”
Later on July 4th, Norcross commented on what he perceives as political maneuvering during a time meant for national unity. He expressed disappointment with President Trump and congressional Republicans’ actions on America’s birthday. According to Norcross “America’s birthday should be a time to unite around our shared values, not score political points. Sadly, President Trump and Republicans in Congress have decided that this day is about enshrining Trump’s agenda into law.”
As a long-serving member of Congress from Camden, New Jersey-born Donald Norcross continues to voice his perspectives on key issues affecting his constituents.
