Today, Governor Murphy signed Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco’s (R-25) bill to approve the sale of the Central Park School in the Township of Morris to the Morris County Educational Services Commission.
“Dedicating educational resources to help the developmentally disabled continue their growth and integration into society is a big win for the Morris County community and New Jersey as a whole,” said Bucco. “The Garden State is lauded as having some of, if not the best public schools in the nation and with the Governor’s signature, this legislation will continue to grow that reputation so parents, students, and teachers can truly put their best foot forward and have the resources they need to be successful.”
S-2809 authorizes the Department of the Treasury, on behalf of the State, to sell and convey to the Morris County Educational Services Commission a 10.01-acre parcel of land and all improvements thereon, known as the Central Park School, located at 5 Jean Street in Morris Township, Morris County.
Central Park School is a public school that serves as an out-of-district placement providing a highly effective, individualized program for students with disabilities ages 3-21 who are classified as eligible for special education and related services under various categories including autistic, multiply disabled, cognitively impaired, and other health impaired. Serving students from public school districts throughout northern New Jersey, Central Park School provides a comprehensive special education program addressing individual academic, social, emotional, and career education needs.
