Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, said that polling indicates strong support for mass deportations in New Jersey, with backing from Hispanics, Catholics, and independents. This statement was made on X.
“Huge support for MASS DEPORTATIONS,” said Cortes. “In New Jersey. Yes, NJ. See the polling: Jersey Hispanics, Catholics, Independents ALL demand safety, sovereignty, & higher wages for citizens!”
A Fairleigh Dickinson University poll revealed that 28% of likely New Jersey voters are concerned deportations could affect them or their families. Among Hispanic or Latino/a residents, this concern rises to 50%, highlighting immigration enforcement as a significant issue across communities in the state.
According to the Migration Policy Institute, New Jersey is home to approximately 440,000 undocumented immigrants. Many have resided in the U.S. for over a decade, with nearly half originating from Mexico or Central America. This makes New Jersey one of the largest immigrant hubs relative to its population.
A Quinnipiac University poll found that 64% of U.S. voters support offering most undocumented immigrants a path to legal status, while 31% favor deportation. Support for legalization is highest among Democrats at 89% and independents at 71%, whereas Republicans predominantly lean toward deportation.
Cortes is also a senior political advisor to CatholicVote and has served as a senior advisor to President Trump and JD Vance. He has been a commentator for Fox News and CNN and regularly releases documentaries and columns at cortesinvestigates.com.
The League of American Workers, founded by Cortes in 2022, is a conservative advocacy group promoting “pro-worker patriotic populism.” Its mission focuses on advocating for economic nationalism, immigration reform, and better wages for working-class Americans through research, media efforts, and grassroots activism.
