Everest Group, Ltd. announced on May 21 the first recipient of the Joseph V. Taranto Scholarship, an annual renewable award aimed at supporting college-bound students who show academic excellence, financial need, and key leadership qualities.

The scholarship was created by Everest and its Board of Directors in honor of former Chairman Joseph V. Taranto. It is intended to help develop future leaders by recognizing students who demonstrate integrity, discipline, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to service—qualities associated with both Everest and Taranto’s leadership.

Jim Williamson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Everest, said: “Developing people and creating opportunity are fundamental to how we operate at Everest. This scholarship reflects our long-term commitment to investing in talent, both within our organization and in the communities we serve. It is one of many ways we’re helping build the next generation of leaders.”

The selection process for the scholarship evaluated candidates based on academic achievement, character, ambition, and alignment with Everest’s values. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy described as ‘underwriting opportunity,’ which includes educational programs, community partnerships, and ongoing talent development efforts.

Joseph V. Taranto said: “I am deeply honored to have this scholarship carry my name. Throughout my career, I’ve believed that creating opportunities for others is the most meaningful legacy any leader can leave. Supporting young people with drive and ability is an investment that pays dividends in a broad and far-reaching way.”

The Joseph V. Taranto Scholarship complements other philanthropic activities at Everest such as global giving programs and employee volunteerism initiatives that encourage continuous learning across the company.
