New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials announced that the emergency traffic regulation order, which temporarily reduced speed limits to 35 miles per hour on all Interstate and State highways, was lifted at noon on Monday, January 26. Normal posted speed limits have resumed for all vehicles on the affected highways.
The order applied to all Interstate highways, U.S. and State highways, as well as the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, and Atlantic City Expressway.
NJDOT crews and contractors will continue cleanup efforts throughout the day to ensure roads remain clear and safe. Officials cautioned that low temperatures could cause refreezing and winds may blow snow onto roadways, making conditions slippery. Road conditions are subject to rapid change.
Drivers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel while crews complete their work. “If you must drive, remember to clear ice and snow off your vehicle before you go, plan extra travel time, and leave a safe following distance behind other motorists,” NJDOT stated.
