U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district, posted a series of tweets on August 4, 2025, addressing education funding and Democratic leadership.

In a tweet published at 17:55 UTC, Norcross wished Rep. Hakeem Jeffries a happy birthday and commended his leadership: “Happy Birthday @RepJeffries! Grateful for your leadership as @HouseDemocrats fight back against Trump’s attacks on working families.”

Later that day at 18:46 UTC, Norcross reaffirmed his commitment to public education, stating: “As a product of New Jersey public schools, I will always fight to make sure our students have access to the tools and services they need to prepare for their future.”

At the same time, he also commented on recent developments regarding federal education funding: “Big Win! The Trump administration has released $7 billion in education funding that they were illegally withholding from America’s schools. Last month, I joined my NJ Democratic colleagues in sending a letter to the Trump administration demanding that they release these funds.”

Norcross has represented New Jersey’s 1st district in Congress since 2014 after succeeding Rob Andrews. He previously served in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate before entering Congress. Born in Camden in 1958, Norcross continues to reside there while serving his constituents.
