U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district, has used his social media platform to highlight legislative efforts aimed at protecting collective bargaining rights for federal workers and celebrate progress on national defense legislation.

On July 16, 2025, Norcross posted: “The Trump Admin is trying to strip collective bargaining rights from over one million federal workers, including Department of Defense employees, under the guise of “national security.” My amendment blocks this illegal union-busting because workers’ rights are not a threat.” In this post, he referenced an amendment he introduced intended to counteract actions by the Trump administration affecting labor rights among federal employees.

Later that day, Norcross announced further legislative developments: “Great to pass another NDAA out of committee with @RepSherrill. Hopefully that’s the last one for New Jersey’s next governor!” The reference to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) underscores ongoing work in congressional committees related to defense policy.

In a subsequent update on July 16, Norcross wrote: “Big win for workers! My amendment to block Trump’s illegal attack on collective bargaining rights for DoD workers PASSED out of committee. Collective bargaining isn’t a threat to national security; it is what workers deserve.”

Norcross has represented New Jersey’s 1st district in Congress since 2014 after succeeding Rob Andrews. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the New Jersey General Assembly and State Senate. Born in Camden in 1958, Norcross remains a resident of the city he represents.
