Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on January 21, 2026, addressing local history, congressional oversight, and payment choice legislation.

In a post marking a local anniversary, Norcross wrote: “Today marks 26 years since the Battleship New Jersey came home to Camden, where she belongs. America’s most decorated battleship now stands as a living reminder of service, sacrifice, and our district’s deep Navy roots.” (January 21, 2026).

Later that day, he commented on congressional rights regarding immigration oversight: “Members of Congress have the right to visit ICE detention facilities and demand answers. Now, the Trump administration is trying to punish and silence her for holding them accountable. It won’t work.” (January 21, 2026).

Norcross also addressed consumer payment options in another post: “Millions of Americans rely on cash, yet more places are refusing to accept it. That’s wrong. I introduced the bipartisan Payment Choice Act so people have the freedom to choose how they pay for products with their hard earned money. Read more in my piece today in The Hill:” (January 21, 2026).

Donald Norcross has served as a member of Congress since replacing Rob Andrews in 2014 and previously held positions in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958 and currently residing there at age 64, Norcross has longstanding ties to his constituency.
