Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district since 2014, has shared several statements on social media addressing key issues and legislative actions. Norcross, who succeeded Rob Andrews in Congress and previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate, continues to voice his perspectives on national matters.
On May 15, 2025, Congressman Norcross criticized proposed cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), stating that it “feeds millions of kids so they can learn and grow by helping working families afford to put healthy food on the table.” He expressed concern over Republican efforts to reduce funding for the program, describing such actions as neither leadership nor budgeting but rather “just cruel.” “SNAP feeds millions of kids so they can learn and grow by helping working families afford to put healthy food on the table. Republicans want to gut the program. Cutting food from hungry children isn’t leadership or budgeting, it’s just cruel.”
Later that day, he acknowledged a legislative development regarding Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park. The House passed a bill renaming parts of the park in honor of Bill Pascrell. Norcross noted his personal connection with Pascrell and expressed satisfaction at joining the New Jersey House delegation in sponsoring this initiative. “This week, the House passed a bill to rename parts of Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park in honor of the late Bill Pascrell. I served with Bill and know how much he loved the City of Patterson.”
On May 16, 2025, Norcross highlighted his background as a union electrician while advocating for workers’ rights through support for the PRO Act. He emphasized that every worker deserves protection from unfair labor practices and should have the opportunity to join a union. The act aims to enshrine these rights into federal law. “As a union electrician, I know how important it is to give workers a voice and protection from unfair labor practices.”
