Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district since 2014, shared insights on recent legislative developments through a series of tweets. His posts focused on the implications of potential cuts to social programs affecting various groups in his constituency.
In a tweet posted on July 2, 2025, Norcross highlighted the impact of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) on local employment. He stated that “SNAP also supports local jobs—more than 700 in South Jersey alone. When families lose benefits, our grocery stores, truck drivers, and food producers all take a hit.”
Another tweet from the same day addressed concerns regarding veterans and their families who depend on government aid. Norcross warned that “Veterans and their families, who rely on food assistance and healthcare, could face significant cuts.” He noted that cutting SNAP would result in “more empty fridges in households that served our” country.
Furthermore, Norcross commented on education funding cuts in another tweet dated July 2, 2025. He pointed out that “the bill cuts Pell Grants for nearly 14,000 students in South Jersey.” This reduction could diminish opportunities for young individuals from working families to afford higher education and improve their futures.
Donald Norcross has been serving as a member of Congress since replacing Rob Andrews in 2014. Prior to his congressional role, he was part of the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate. Born and residing in Camden, New Jersey, Norcross continues to advocate for his constituents’ needs.
