Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district since 2014, has expressed concerns over recent policy proposals and their potential impacts on vulnerable populations. Through a series of tweets, Norcross addresses issues ranging from housing and healthcare to community safety programs.
On June 5, 2025, Congressman Norcross criticized former President Trump’s plan, stating that it would “evict hundreds of thousands of seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities already on fixed incomes”. He further warned that the plan could force homeless shelters to cease operations amid a national homelessness crisis affecting over 771,000 individuals.
In another tweet posted on the same day, Norcross highlighted the consequences of proposed Medicaid cuts. He stated that such reductions would not only “take healthcare away from at least 14 million Americans” but also increase premiums, copays, and deductibles for millions more.
Later that day, Norcross emphasized the importance of violence intervention programs in Camden. He noted their success in saving lives and fostering community trust. Criticizing funding cuts to these initiatives as summer approaches, he remarked that “cutting their funding now…is dangerous and shortsighted”, advocating instead for their expansion.
Donald Norcross has been an active member of Congress since succeeding Rob Andrews in 2014. Prior to his congressional service, he was part of the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate. Born in Camden in 1958, Norcross continues to reside there while serving his constituents.
