Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform to criticize recent federal policy decisions and preview upcoming media appearances.
On August 2, 2025, Norcross posted: “Flood after flood is hammering New Jersey and the East Coast. And Trump? He’s gutting FEMA and canceling flood resilience grants.
FEMA helps families recover from floods, wildfires, and hurricanes.
We should strengthen FEMA, not eliminate it.” The post highlights his concerns about disaster response funding amid repeated flooding events in the region.
Later that day, he announced an upcoming television appearance: “Tomorrow morning I’ll be joining @Laurenjmayk from @NBCPhiladelphia to discuss my visit with @RepHerbConaway to @jointbasemdl, where we conducted oversight after @SecDef authorized the use of the base to detain undocumented immigrants.” This tweet refers to a joint oversight visit following authorization by the Secretary of Defense for detention operations at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
On August 3, 2025, Norcross criticized a proposed Republican budget plan: “Republicans’ INHUMANE 2026 funding plan:
CUTS food assistance
CUTS clean water infrastructure
CUTS healthcare access
CUTS affordable housing
CUTS public transit
The list goes on and on, all while raising prices for everyday Americans.”
Norcross has represented New Jersey’s 1st District since replacing Rob Andrews in 2014. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958, Norcross continues to reside there as he serves his constituents.
