Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district, has been actively communicating on social media to address significant cultural and historical commemorations. In a series of tweets, Norcross acknowledges the contributions of diverse communities and the historical milestones associated with civil rights movements.
On May 3, 2025, Congressman Norcross tweeted about Jewish American Heritage Month, expressing his commitment to celebrating the contributions of Jewish Americans. He stated, “May is Jewish American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Jewish Americans to our history and culture. I will always work to uplift South Jersey’s Jewish community in Congress and beyond.”
In another post, dated May 4, 2025, Norcross reflected on the historical significance of the first freedom ride, marking its 64th anniversary. He wrote, “64 years ago, brave men and women embarked on the first freedom ride to protest segregation. These Americans put themselves at risk to fight for civil rights, and their courage must be honored as we continue to fight for justice and equality for all.”
Additionally, on May 4, 2025, Norcross commemorated Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. He stated, “Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. South Jersey is better off because of the AANHPI community. Our diversity is our strength.”
Donald Norcross has been representing New Jersey’s 1st District in the U.S. Congress since 2014, after succeeding Rob Andrews. Born in Camden, New Jersey, in 1958, Norcross has also served in the New Jersey General Assembly and the New Jersey Senate.
