Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on January 11, 2026, highlighting significant local figures and events.
In a tweet marking the birthday of Alice Paul, a noted suffragist from South Jersey, Norcross wrote: “Born on this day in 1885, South Jersey’s own Alice Paul helped change the course of history by fighting for women’s right to vote. Her courage and persistence reshaped our democracy and continue to inspire the work for equality today.” (January 11, 2026).
Later that day, he acknowledged community service in another post: “On the second Sunday of January, we honor New Jersey’s volunteer firefighters and thank them for their service to our communities. We’re grateful for your service.” (January 11, 2026).
Norcross also expressed support for Philadelphia’s football team with a brief message: “Go Birds!” (January 11, 2026).
Norcross has served as U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 1st District since replacing Rob Andrews in 2014. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of both the New Jersey General Assembly and State Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958 and currently residing there at age 64, Norcross frequently references regional figures and events as part of his public communications.
