Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed concerns about federal policy impacts and detention center conditions through a series of posts on his social media account.

On October 2, 2025, Norcross called attention to the treatment of families at a local detention facility, stating: “No family should face unsafe conditions to see their loved ones. I am calling on DHS and the GEO group to do better and end the inhumane practices at Delaney Hall Detention Center.” In a separate post made at the same time, he encouraged constituents to seek further information by sharing: “Learn more: https://t.co/vbj7ZIwkaB”

Later that day, Norcross commented on ongoing government funding issues, writing: “The Republican shutdown is creating uncertainty for families and federal workers in our community. But South Jersey always comes together in tough times. Our neighbors at @FoodBankSJ are ready to help. If you or someone you know needs food assistance, you can find the closest”

Norcross has served as the representative for New Jersey’s 1st district since 2014 after succeeding Rob Andrews. He previously held positions in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958, Norcross continues to reside there while serving his constituents.
