Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on local historical preservation, labor advocacy, and veteran support through a series of posts on his social media account.
On July 22, 2025, Norcross highlighted his efforts to restore a historic site in Camden: “Built in 1734, Camden’s Benjamin Cooper Tavern is one of the city’s oldest buildings and represents Camden’s role in American history. I secured $500K to help restore it and transform it into the American Revolution Museum of Southern New Jersey, opening in time for our https://t.co/avBDy23I81”.
Later that day, he addressed labor issues following a meeting with union leadership: “Heard directly from @ilwulongshore President Bobby Olvera Jr. about the challenges and opportunities facing dockworkers at today’s @labor_caucus meeting. Dockworkers keep our economy moving, and they deserve fair pay, safe conditions, and a voice on the job. https://t.co/vpLCW4Ph8e”.
On July 23, 2025, Norcross commemorated an anniversary related to veterans’ employment: “On this day in 2012, the Veterans Skills to Jobs Act was signed into law, helping veterans transition from military service to meaningful careers. We owe our heroes every opportunity to succeed in civilian life. I will always support efforts that honor their service.”
Norcross has served as a member of Congress since 2014 after replacing Rob Andrews. He previously held positions in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958 and currently residing there at age 64, Norcross has focused much of his legislative attention on local development projects and labor rights initiatives.
