Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district since 2014, recently shared his views on various labor and legislative issues through a series of tweets. Norcross, who has a background as an apprentice and is the only electrician in Congress, emphasizes the importance of skilled trades and workers’ rights.
On May 7, 2025, Norcross marked National Skilled Trades Day by highlighting the significance of job-training programs. He stated that as a former apprentice himself, he remains committed to expanding access to skills training. His goal is to connect workers with well-paying jobs that offer long-term success. “National Skilled Trades Day is a reminder of the importance of job-training programs.”
Later that day, Norcross expressed his support for the SHIPS for America Act. He noted its potential impact on job creation and strengthening America’s shipbuilding capabilities. According to him, this bipartisan action is essential for rebuilding America’s shipbuilding strength and creating more jobs at facilities like Philly Shipyard. “The SHIPS for America Act is exactly the kind of bipartisan action we need.”
In another tweet on May 7th, Norcross reiterated his commitment to supporting workers’ rights as a lifelong union member. He emphasized the power of collective bargaining and advocated for laws that empower rather than deter workers’ rights to organize. “I stand with workers because it’s who I am.”
Donald Norcross was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1958 and continues to reside there.
