Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to address recent developments affecting families and children in New Jersey.
On October 9, 2025, Norcross posted an update regarding nutrition support for women and children in the state: “We just got an update from the New Jersey Department of Health that the WIC program, which provides food and nutrition support for 165,000 women and children across our state, only has enough funds to help families for two more weeks. It is time to end the shutdown and negotiate”. The WIC program is a federally funded initiative providing food assistance to low-income women and children.
The following day, on October 10, 2025, Norcross highlighted local efforts to address housing issues: “Every family deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. It was great to join Camden leaders to celebrate the new Community Housing Collaborative. Together, we are turning vacant lots into opportunity, creating good-paying jobs, and strengthening our neighborhoods.” This statement reflects ongoing community development projects in Camden aimed at improving housing access and employment opportunities.
Later on October 10, Norcross commented on school safety for immigrant children: “Immigrant children should never be targets of fear or intimidation. Every student deserves to feel safe at school.”
Norcross has served as the U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 1st district since replacing Rob Andrews in 2014. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958, Norcross continues to reside there while representing his community at the federal level.
