Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing voting rights, tax policy, and veterans’ services.

On August 6, 2025, Norcross commemorated the anniversary of landmark civil rights legislation, writing: “The Voting Rights Act was signed into law on this day in 1965 thanks to the courage of leaders like John Lewis and MLK Jr. Their legacies remind us that democracy is always worth fighting for, and we must continue to rise to meet the challenges of today.”

Later that day, he criticized recent legislative efforts by House Republicans regarding tax policy. In his post from August 6, 2025, Norcross stated: “House Republicans rigged the math of their Big Ugly Bill to hide the cost of their billionaire tax giveaway. They lied to Congress, lied to voters, and handed billions to the ultra-wealthy while working families pay the price.”

Addressing veterans’ issues on August 7, 2025, Norcross wrote: “Our veterans made a promise to serve and defend our country. Now we must uphold our promise to them. By stripping collective bargaining rights from employees at the VA, Trump is not only attacking workers but going after the services our veterans rely on.”

Norcross has served in Congress since 2014 after replacing Rob Andrews. He previously held positions in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958, Norcross continues to reside there as he represents his district.
