Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district since 2014, recently expressed his concerns over several pressing issues via social media. Norcross, who succeeded Rob Andrews in Congress and previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate, addressed topics ranging from Supreme Court decisions to legislative initiatives.

On July 9, 2025, Congressman Norcross criticized a recent Supreme Court decision. He stated that “The Supreme Court just gave Trump the go-ahead to slash federal jobs with no regard for the work those employees do for the public.” He emphasized that this could lead to reduced personnel available to manage Social Security, care for veterans, and maintain essential services. Justice Jackson referred to this action as the “dismantling.”

Later on July 9th, Norcross commented on fiscal policies supported by Republicans. He remarked that “It’s bad enough that Republicans are giving even more tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.” Highlighting the potential consequences of these actions, he noted that they could result in 17 million Americans losing their health care coverage and many facing hunger.

On July 10th, Norcross shared an initiative he is supporting related to worker recognition. As a former union electrician himself, he acknowledged the dangers faced by lineworkers and announced his participation with fellow representatives Linda Sánchez, Brian Fitzpatrick, and Bresnahan in proposing legislation to designate July 10th as Lineworker Appreciation Day. This bill aims to honor over 120K lineworkers who perform critical duties during adverse weather conditions.

Norcross was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1958 and continues to reside there today.
