Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on July 24, 2025, addressing concerns about defense funding and workers’ rights.
On July 24, 2025, Norcross voiced opposition to proposed changes at Picatinny Arsenal. He stated, “I joined my NJ colleagues to tell the Army: don’t gut Picatinny Arsenal. Stripping nearly $1B in research and development from New Jersey and cutting 1,000 jobs is a terrible move for workers and our national defense.”
Later that day, he reflected on the history of labor protections in the United States. On July 24, 2025, he wrote, “The Fair Labor Standards Act, signed into law in 1938, laid the foundation for workers’ rights, establishing minimum wage, overtime pay, and protections against child labor. As a co-chair of @Labor_Caucus, I’m committed to strengthening these protections for workers across”.
In a subsequent post on July 24, 2025 marking an economic milestone regarding wages in the U.S., Norcross said: “Today marks 16 years since the last federal minimum wage increase in 2009. While the cost of living has increased, the federal minimum wage has stayed at $7.25 per hour. That’s far from a livable wage.”
Norcross has represented New Jersey’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Rob Andrews in 2014. Prior to his current role he served both in the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958 and still residing there at age sixty-four as of this writing—Norcross continues to advocate for issues impacting his constituents.
