Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on social media between May 25 and May 26, 2026, addressing Memorial Day, conditions at Delaney Hall detention facility, and the opening of early voting sites across New Jersey.
On May 25, Norcross reflected on Memorial Day, stating in a post: “Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the brave men and women in uniform who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. They gave their lives to keep us, our way of life, and our freedoms safe. Today, and everyday, we must honor and remember them.”
The following day, Norcross commented on his visit to Delaney Hall earlier that year as well as recent events involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the facility. Norcross has served in Congress since replacing Rob Andrews in 2014 after previously holding positions in both chambers of New Jersey’s state legislature. Born in Camden in 1958 and currently residing there at age 64, Norcross continues to represent his community at the federal level.
