Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district, recently expressed his views on significant issues through a series of posts on social media platform X. A veteran politician, Norcross has held his congressional seat since 2014 following a tenure in the New Jersey General Assembly and the State Senate.
On May 2, Norcross criticized potential cuts to community violence intervention programs, asserting that such services are “effective at reducing gun-related injuries and deaths in our community.” He labeled the ending of funding for these programs as both a broken promise and an act of cruelty.
Later that evening, Norcross turned his attention to the policies of former President Donald Trump. He shared a critical assessment of Trump’s first 100 days in office, highlighting what he perceives as an adverse impact on American workers. “Trump claimed he’d support working people,” Norcross stated, accusing the former president of finding new ways “to lower wages and make workplaces less safe.” He mentioned the Labor Caucus’s efforts to combat these changes and suggested accessing their report for more information.
On May 3, Norcross reinforced his commitment to a free press, a principle he described as “essential to democracy.” He emphasized the role of journalists in holding powerful entities accountable, reiterating their enshrinement by the Founding Fathers in the U.S. Constitution.
Donald Norcross was born in 1958 in Camden, New Jersey, where he currently resides. He assumed his congressional role after replacing Rob Andrews in 2014.
