Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on October 20, 2025, addressing political events and community celebrations in South Jersey.

In a post from October 20, Norcross wrote, “South Jersey knows there are no kings in America. Great to see so many members of our community come together this weekend to combat Trump’s attacks on American democracy.”

Later that day, he extended greetings to the local community, stating, “Wishing everyone in South Jersey a joyous Diwali. It was great to celebrate with our local community this weekend.” This message coincided with Diwali celebrations in the region.

In a third tweet posted on the same day, Norcross commented on the ongoing government shutdown, writing, “Today is day 20 of America held hostage by this Republican shutdown. At a time when we should be investing in our students, Donald Trump is cutting staff at the Department of Education. Our students, teachers, and education staff deserve better than this.”

Norcross has served in Congress since 2014 after replacing Rob Andrews and previously held positions in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate. Born in Camden in 1958, Norcross continues to reside in his hometown while representing his district at the federal level.
