Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues on his Twitter account on January 22, 2026.
In a post published at 18:04 UTC, Norcross criticized the detention of a young child, stating, “A 5 year old was detained after preschool and sent hundreds of miles away to Texas. This is unacceptable. No one should look at an innocent child and see a violent criminal, and we should never use children as bait. This is not who we are supposed to be as a nation, and it”.
Later that day, at 19:12 UTC, he marked the anniversary of Roe v. Wade by commenting on reproductive rights: “On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, it’s clear the fight for reproductive freedom isn’t over. Healthcare decisions belong to patients and their doctors, not politicians. No one should be forced into dangerous situations or impossible choices because of extremist bans.”
At 21:46 UTC on the same day, Norcross discussed funding for body cameras for ICE agents included in a spending package: “The spending package does include $20 million to purchase body cameras for ICE agents, but that’s not good enough. Money alone doesn’t guarantee those cameras get worn. My bill, the Trust Through Transparency Act, would require by law that ICE agents wear body cameras.”
Norcross has served in Congress since 2014 after replacing Rob Andrews and previously held positions in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. He was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1958 and continues to reside there.
