The Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee has given its approval to a bipartisan bill introduced by Senator Kristin Corrado. The legislation aims to provide a permanent solution for local governments in New Jersey to publish public notices.

“This bill establishes a common-sense, taxpayer-friendly solution that modernizes how legal notices are shared with the public,” stated Senator Corrado. “By creating a centralized statewide database, we can ensure that government communications are transparent and accessible, which will help towns save thousands of dollars that can be redirected to better serve their communities.”

The proposed legislation, known as S-3905, would allow local governments to meet their legal obligations for publishing public notices by submitting them to a statewide database. This database would be established and maintained by the Department of Community Affairs. The initiative is designed to offer the public an easy-to-use access point for finding and viewing legal notices pertinent to their municipality.

Further details of the legislation can be accessed online.
