Senator Kristin Corrado’s bill, aimed at improving the handling of juvenile delinquency cases within the local criminal justice system, has successfully passed through the Senate Judiciary Committee. The legislation mandates that juveniles accused of delinquency appear before a court in the county where the alleged offense took place.
Senator Corrado stated, “Our justice system should be most convenient for the victims of crimes, not the offenders.” She further explained that current laws often favor offenders by providing convenience to them. “This bill will right that wrong and mandate that the court that hears the case will be in the county where the offense was committed.”
