Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, shared personal experiences and public safety concerns in a series of posts on July 23, 2025.
In one post, Norcross referenced his background in construction work to highlight workplace safety issues: “I’ve worked on construction sites. I know what it takes to keep workers safe on the job.
President Trump may not think lighting matters, but workers do. Lighting deficiencies cause accidents, such as falling through a hole in the floor or bumping into dangerous objects.” (July 23, 2025)
Later that day, Norcross described a recent medical emergency he experienced while traveling: “On April 6, I was flying on Republic Flight 4711 when I experienced a medical emergency. These crew members didn’t hesitate. They got me emergency care, diverted the flight, and got me to a hospital. That saved my life.” (July 23, 2025)
He followed up with another post expressing gratitude for those involved: “Today, I had the honor of thanking the heroes who saved my life.
Captain Michael Tibaldo, First Officer James Kim, Flight Attendants Donnell Mitchell and Jaclyn Curry took swift action when I faced a medical emergency in the air.” (July 23, 2025)
Norcross has represented New Jersey’s 1st district since replacing Rob Andrews in Congress in 2014. Before his tenure in Congress began that year, he served both in the New Jersey General Assembly and State Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958 and currently residing there at age 64, Norcross has longstanding ties to the community he serves.
