Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted key moments in American civil rights history and announced internship opportunities for his offices through a series of posts on social media.
On July 26, 2025, Norcross commemorated the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), stating: “Signed into law in 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was a landmark civil rights victory that ensured equal access and opportunity for millions of l Americans. We will never stop fighting for full inclusion and accessibility for all.”
Later that day, he marked another significant date by referencing President Truman’s executive order to desegregate the U.S. Armed Forces. In his post dated July 26, 2025, Norcross wrote: “Today in 1948, President Truman ordered the desegregation of the U.S. Armed Forces, a pivotal moment in the fight for equality and dignity in uniform. As a proud member of @HASCDems, I remain committed to advancing equity and inclusion for all who serve our nation with honor.”
On July 27, 2025, Norcross invited students to apply for internships at his Cherry Hill, Camden, and Washington D.C. offices: “Want to make a difference in your community? Norcross has represented New Jersey’s 1st district since succeeding Rob Andrews in Congress in 2014. He previously served both in the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958 and currently residing there at age 64, Norcross continues to focus on issues related to civil rights and community engagement.
