Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, expressed his concerns on social media regarding President Trump’s legislative proposals. Through a series of tweets, he criticized the potential impacts of what he refers to as “Trump’s Big Ugly Bill.”

On June 5, 2025, Congressman Norcross tweeted about the negative effects of the proposed bill: “In addition to ripping healthcare and food assistance from millions of working families, President Trump’s Big Ugly Bill will raise the cost of living and harm the people who make this country run. Here’s how:”

He further criticized Republican efforts by stating that they have not contributed positively to affordability for citizens. On the same day, he posted another tweet saying: “Republicans have done nothing to make life more affordable —and are now making things even worse with Trump’s Big Ugly Bill.”

Additionally, Congressman Norcross highlighted specific areas where funding cuts could be detrimental. He mentioned plans to reduce support for job training programs and eliminate Job Corps entirely. His tweet read: “Trump and Republicans plan to gut funding for job training programs for hundreds of thousands of dislocated workers, youth, and older workers, including the complete elimination of Job Corps.”

Donald Norcross has served in Congress since 2014 after replacing Rob Andrews. Prior to his congressional service, he was part of New Jersey’s state legislature.
