Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 22, 2026, criticizing recent federal immigration enforcement policies and calling for increased oversight and accountability.

In one post, Norcross addressed funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating: “The Republican’s Tax Break for Billionaires Law already dumped $75 billion into ICE. What they need now is real oversight, transparency, and accountability, not another blank check.” (January 22, 2026).

He further criticized prominent political figures and current immigration enforcement practices: “Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, and ICE are abusing their power. They promised to go after violent criminals, instead Americans are getting killed and immigrant communities are living in fear. We can do better, which is why I voted ‘no’ on the DHS appropriations bill.” (January 22, 2026).

Norcross also outlined his legislative priorities regarding law enforcement accountability: “I will keep pushing until my bill gets over the finish line and body cameras are mandatory for all public-facing immigration enforcement officers. Without enforceable rules, real oversight, and accountability, DHS and ICE will keep operating without consequences.” (January 22, 2026).

Donald Norcross has served as the U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 1st district since replacing Rob Andrews in 2014. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate between 2010 and 2014. Born in Camden in 1958 where he currently resides at age 64, Norcross has consistently advocated for greater transparency within federal agencies.
