Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district since 2014, has been vocal on various issues affecting workers and the economy. Through a series of tweets, he addressed concerns about federal worker protections, funding for scientific research in South Jersey, and economic challenges facing young people.

On June 20, 2025, Norcross criticized former President Trump’s intentions to revoke federal heat protections for workers. He stated that “Nobody should have to risk their life to earn a paycheck.” Norcross described these protections as essential rules that ensure water and rest breaks for workers and called Trump’s actions “wrong, cruel, and dangerous.”

Later that day, Norcross shared positive news regarding funding for local research. He announced that “Rowan University is getting $650K from @NSF to study how oxygen and inflammation affect disease.” He emphasized the importance of supporting local research as it creates jobs and positions South Jersey as a hub for science and medical innovation.

On June 21, 2025, Norcross addressed the economic challenges facing new graduates in the current job market. He criticized Trump’s handling of the economy by stating “Trump’s economic chaos is hitting young people hardest.” Norcross urged Trump to focus on helping the next generation succeed rather than cutting healthcare and clean energy investments.

Donald Norcross has served in Congress since succeeding Rob Andrews in 2014. Before his tenure in Congress, he was part of the New Jersey General Assembly from 2010 to 2010 and served on the New Jersey Senate from 2010 to 2014. Born in Camden in 1958, he continues to reside there at age 64.
