Congressman Donald Norcross, representing New Jersey’s 1st district since 2014, recently addressed several pressing issues via his Twitter account. As a member of the U.S. Congress, Norcross shared his perspectives on healthcare access and government efficiency.

On May 6, 2025, Congressman Norcross announced his introduction of the bipartisan Modernizing Opioid Treatment Access Act through Twitter. He emphasized the need to expand access to lifesaving treatments and outlined that this bill aims to remove barriers by enabling doctors to prescribe methadone and allowing pharmacies to dispense it.

Later that day, he expressed concerns over potential program cuts by former President Trump. In a tweet dated May 6, 2025, he highlighted that overdoses continue to claim over 100,000 American lives annually. He criticized any plans to reduce funding for programs distributing naloxone—a critical overdose medication—to first responders as both “backwards” and “deadly.”

In another tweet from the same date, Norcross raised concerns about Elon Musk’s companies holding $38 billion in government contracts. He pointed out a potential conflict of interest regarding Musk’s role in deciding which government programs should be retained or eliminated. Norcross called for transparency concerning Musk’s involvement with what he termed the “Department of Government Efficiency.”

Donald Norcross has served in various political roles throughout his career; before joining Congress in 2014 following Rob Andrews’ departure, he was part of the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate from 2010 until taking federal office.
